Living Out Our Vision
Our Mission Statement:
• The children in our midst
• The mission at our doorstep
• A place of hospitality and grace
Be a part of living out our vision by joining First Church’s Council on Ministries.
Program Ministry areas include:
• Christian Education Council • Communications • Inclusiveness • Outreach • Welcome & Nurture • Worship Team • Library.
We have a new format this year! All of these meet on the 2nd Sunday of the month after worship. Our aim is to provide a forum where all the program ministries can work together efficiently and cooperatively to achieve our common goals. All are welcome.
During worship on September 24, 2006, Council of Ministries chair Laura Norris spoke about the new format. Listen to her message here.
If one of these ministries sparks your interest, come on up to Fellowship Hall for lunch and planning. Childcare will be provided.
This is an exciting time for our church. The hope is that this new format will enable us to support one another and help the church continue to grow in a positive direction.
For more information contact Laura Norris.
See you there!

Stephen Ministry
Are you struggling with one of life’s many issues? Divorce... grieving... job loss... family problems... spiritual malaise... health... job dissatisfaction... depression... unsettled problems...
Would It Help to Talk About It?
Sometimes it really does help just to talk about it! Let one of the pastors know! We can offer you the caring companionship of a trained Stephen Minister.
Stephen Ministers are specially trained lay people, gifted with sensitivity and listening skills. They are available to offer Christian care to those experiencing grief, loneliness, illness or a traumatic transition of any kind.
Care-giving assignments are arranged through the pastors and are absolutely confidential.

Bible Study with Robert Hamerton-Kelly
Pastor Robert Hamerton-Kelly returns to FUMCPA with his Bible Study class that has been meeting in this areas for more than 30 years.
The text they are studying currently is the Gospel of John and they are currently at the 11th chapter, the Raising of Lazarus. There are currently about 10 regular members, all are very friendly and eager to welcome new participants. One can start at any point in the study because the discussion is informal and wide-ranging, without any targeted outcomes or any requirement, except perhaps the willingness to be open and prepared to discuss.
The class meets in the Wesley Room every Thursday evening from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.
Check out our Ministries page for additional First Church Bible Study opportunities.

Labyrinth
Walking this circular path from the first century of Christianity helps us release the surface noise of our days and connect deeply with the Source of Life, with the Sacred that is in and around us - for guidance, peace, healing. The Labyrinth is offered at special times of the year (Lent, Holy Week, Advent, New Year's Eve.)
