Family Swim Party
Ready to get in the swim of things?
The Nurture Committee is hosting a Family Swim Outing on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
The outing will be held at the Silliman Family Aquatic Center, which is located at 6800 Mowry Avenue in Newark, CA

Worship Hour
Worship Hour is from 10:25 am -11:30 am
Two year olds experience music and play related to our faith in the Ladybug Room.
All other children are encouraged to attend the worship service with their families. Tthe children are invited forward for the gospel lesson.
After the gospel children ages 3-10 years old are invited to the "Circle of Friends." Children who wish to stay in worship with their families will find a worship activity pack on the chancel steps.”
Children 7 years and older are encouraged to remain with their families for the entire worship service. For these children, worship activity packs are available on the children's table in the Narthex.
On special occasions, all children remain with their families for the worship service.
Older children are also encouraged to help in worship services by reading the opening prayer, acting as Acolytes, and by reading scriptures.

Circle of Friends
Children ages 6 and under are invited to join the Circle of Friends which takes place during the 10:25am Sunday worship service.
This enrichment time for children occurs after the gospel lesson.
Each week the Circle of Friends offers a different activity.
• 1st Sunday of the month: The Joy of Music - singing, instruments, and movement with Craig and Laura Norris
• 2nd Sunday: Stories and Art on Peace with the Outreach Committee and Friends in the Library
• 3rd Sunday of the month: Godly Play with Pastor Marylee. "...The goal of Godly Play is teach children using the art of religious language-parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action - to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives."
• 4th Sunday of the month: The Joy of Music – singing, instruments, and movement with Craig Norris and Friends
• 5th Sunday of the month: Godly Play with Pastor Marylee

Sunday School
Our Bible-based curriculum is designed to nurture the children in their faith journey.
Sunday School meets from 9:00 am - 10:15 am
We have separate classes for:
• Preschool (3-4 years old)
• Grades K-1
• Grades 2-3
• Grades 4-5
All grades gather together for a 10-minute closing assembly of singing and prayer.

Sunday Child Care
We offer child care on Sunday mornings from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm.
Infant Care is available in the Noah's Ark Nursery, and toddler care is available in the Ladybug Room.
Our staff consists of professional caregivers and trained volunteers.
When bringing their children for care, parents will be provided with a pager in the event that they need to be contacted.

First School Preschool
First Palo Alto is home to the First School preschool.
First School is an integral part of the education and outreach ministries of the church. It is open to children of all races, religions and national origins. Art, drama, music, stories gymnastics, cooking and nature study, with an emphasis on social development and Kindergarten readiness are included.
Part or full-time programs are available to toilet-trained children, ages 2-1/2 to 6 years old. We have a ratio of 1 teacher for each 5 children, and we are open Monday - Friday 7:40 am - 4:00 pm year-round.
First School is licensed by the state of California Social Services Department and is staffed by qualified and experienced teachers.
